Figure not putting 2 grand into my car can be 2 grand into a new car. Figure I get somewhere between 500-1000 for trade in. So I don't know. I'm kinda stuck. Half of me says fix, half of me says sell. They just can't get along!

And our neighbors are assholes. Apparently last night they had the bass so loud that it was vibrating everything in our apartment. Wife went down to ask them to turn it down and the guy told her that she lives in an apartment building and that means she has to learn to deal with other peoples stuff. Basically he is using the fact that we live in an apartment as an excuse to do whatever he wants. Sorry, not how that works...

ah welcome to my world! People think they are the only ones in the world and that everyone should bow to them---yep, have them living next to me too.

and new car vs old car...newer cars require even MORE maintenance than old ones since the advent of the stupid computer running them (I remember when all you had to do was change the oil and air filter every so often and you were good to go---now adays just doing the 15k miles check sets you back a few hundred, and we wont even go to the 90k miles check---with NOTHING wrong with the car too--and now you cant do half of the stuff either because the &^%* computer in the car

yeah, when we got our last car I said that would be the end for sometime, now she's 12 years old (almost 13) cant believe its been that long, runs well, but yeah, has a few issues (2k worth for this summers work), still have my 97 corrolla with only 140k miles or so, got plenty of life left in her too (other one only has ~40k miles so pleeeeeeeenty of life left there!)
guess you just have to weigh all the facts and decide if you want to get rid of a great car for the new car (with possible even costier work ahead)...

You can always get a reader to clear the code. I'm actually going to get one in the next couple of months.

I am starting to lean towards fixing it. I just don't have the money to get a new car, though the wife should start working in the next few months. I'll probably try to milk another year or two out of mine before I look for a new one.

We got up to 81 here. Was a beautiful day outside. Supposed to storm tomorrow though. Then possible snow on Monday... >.>

Back to not knowing what I'm going to do with the car. I think I'm just gonna wait on it for now. See how fast the wife gets a job and how much she will make before I make a decision.

sooo now its cool again outside, however; our condo is now well into the 80's inside (top floor---hot air rises)...if it gets too hot must turn on the a/c (computers dont like hot)

Cold here as well. Really enjoyed the 70's... Now we are back in the low 40's... Not cool. And it is hot in here as well, just not as hot as it is at your place.

Had the same issue here cosy. Got over half an inch of snow and couldn't see squat. Mother Nature is not friendly at the moment...

Having taxes done is nice. Waiting on our check from the state. We already received our federal refund.

yeah the snow was not a welcome weather issue for the day---glad I dont live the U P of michigan though--they are supposed to get another foot or so

our checks are hangin' out in our 'savings' account (yeah with .01% interest, not much of a saving account there)....not to mention not much of a check to begin with----
/sigh

didnt get to see the moon either---toooooo many clouds

oh well, supposed to be another one in october, perhaps the weather will be more accomodating then (we can hope).

Definitely glad I don't live up there then as well. I am over the s stuff. Supposed to be in the 60's and 70's for the next week now. Hopefully it stays there!

Wife defended her thesis on Wednesday and is now done! She has to turn it into a journal article and submit it to some journals but that should just be copy and paste. We are both glad she is done. Now she can start job hunting!

Congrats Mrs Pwnd!!!

Yeah I remember when my hubby finished his thesis...was a happy day indeed; since we had waited for over a year for his ^*%# advisor to actually read it--and then he only did so because he was getting funding for an assistant (but he wasnt paying him--eg my hubby) and the committee who was funding him wanted something in writing about why they had been funding him....so he asked my hubby to get the paper ready for review and submitted it to the committee as HIS own work, yeah a real piece of work that one, he had 2 other grants that he was just taking the money for as well and doing NO work, heck he didnt even teach ANY of his classes--had his assistants do that and he didnt pay them very well either......ah oh soooo glad to be out of that place!.

so yeah, happy days!! (and its supposed to be almost 70 this weekend /faint!!!)

Some people on her committee didn't read it either. Just ridiculous... But oh well. It is done. Thank goodness!

very strange indeed....but hubbys advisor had to read it since the committee asked him questions about it (and he put HIS name on it

)--remember this is not the college committee but an outside organization that he had been working with and getting paid for 2 people (him and an assistant), which he only had himself and NO assistant (he stopped paying my hubby after the 2nd year)...so the committee really wanted to see what they were paying 2 people for for 5+ years with nothing to show for it.

college committee read the whole thing and his orals were pretty indepth (he was the first candidate to actually get that far since they had started the master program for his area), and his advisor helped out on that as well seeing as he needed the paper for the other committee----

yeah supposed to be nicer, a bit of rain supposed to happen, but still I will take rain if the temps are in the upper 60's/lower 70's!

it was sorta quiet here (I was not feeling well, so we didnt do our annual car wash), but am doing better today thanks, and we went and bought a bunch of herbs for our balcony garden....thought it was late enough in the season, but the garden place only had a few out, guess the winter was pretty dang cold all around.

enjoying the warm weather though it has been raining on/off and supposed to get thunderstorms this afternoon/evening as well---at least the plantees will get a good soaking then!

They are just now starting to get the flowers and herbs out. Winter was far too cold for them to have them out before.

We got some rain this afternoon, but definitely not a whole lot. Oh well... More coming later in the week and this weekend.

Good evening all! Has been awhile since I have been by. Hope all is well with all of you. Things going great here. Glad Ole Man Winter finally decided to part ways with us.

Sleeping with all the windows open. Nice breezes keeping it comfortable in here. The only negative with open windows, the trains that pass, whistles blowing, just 2 blocks away. Starting to get use to them.
